The Holy Spirit our Comforter

“… For He [the Holy Spirit] dwells with you and will be in you.” John 14:17

What a comforting Scripture! To know that the Holy Spirit dwells with those who believe in Christ. To know that we don’t have to be alone when going through trials; to know that the Creator of the entire universe has sent his Spirit to dwell in us and walk with us is just amazing to me. What a wonderful God to serve!

There are times in all of our lives when God takes us through difficult situations. But the great news is we never have to go it alone. God has promised to those who believe in Him, that He will send a Comforter to them…that is the Holy Spirit.

“…The Father shall give you a Comforter, that he may abide with you forever. ” John 14:16

“The churches…walked in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit…” Acts 9:31

Wow! God promises not only to be in us, but through his Spirit, he also comforts us. He can ease the grief that has stricken our hearts. He can release our hearts of its continued condemnation. (For God does not condemn us.) He can bring peace and hope when we find that there is none. And when the world seems to be crashing in around us, God is there offering comfort to the broken-hearted, to the sadden, to the hurt, to the wounded, and to all who accept it. Both to me and to you, and might I say what love!!!

“For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” Romans 5:5

God says that the Holy Spirit is a gift to all who desire it. To all who call upon the name of Jesus and He wants to give it to us mere, simple, humans. I’m honored at the thought. God doesn’t withhold himself from anyone. No, no one is to the point where they are out of the reach of Christ. No sin is to big that it can withhold the Spirit, if you believe in Christ and serve him as Lord, then know His Spirit is with you.

  1. Thanks Elissa. I am reading a great book about the Holy Spirit, “Forgotten God” by Francis Chan. Check it out. I have been meaning to touch base. Love your stuff. Also wanted to share a praise. Right before Mom died she was giving out final individual sermons. Ha Ha. She told Michael who was saved many years ago, that where he went wrong was not reading his Bible. He has decided to read the entire Bible and J Vernon McGee’s commentary (one of Mom’s faves”). Please add him to your prayer list. Also I shared with him, the study you wrote “Reality of Christ” and he is checking it out. Yipee! Miss you and your family. Love ya.

    • Oh it is so good to hear for you my friend! And Praise God for that blessing with Michael! God is soo good and I will keep him close in my prayers. Its awesome that he gets to read the study too. 🙂
