Voting For A Moral Candidate

For over three centuries America has been officially described as a Christian nation. It was not until about two decades ago that our government began its pursuit to weed out ‘religion’ and anything having to do with God in public places. A few years ago, our president, Barack Obama, stated that America was no longer a Christian nation. Regardless of the fact that our founding fathers attempted to keep this nation a Christian and God centered nation, they continued to tear down Ten Commandments on government buildings and remove religious symbols from public places. What, in turn, has happened is that our countries roots of Christianity have now been disbursed and in its place we have developed a broader open forum of no religion at all—a country now based on the state of ‘ideas’ rather than on God.

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” George Washington.

“God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?” Benjamin Franklin

Here are just a few things that now shape America, in which our founding fathers would not stand for–

1. Dozens of Ten Commandment displays have been removed. (Including the 5,280 pound granite monument of the Ten Commandments in the rotunda of the Alabama State Judicial Building.)

2. Gay Marriage has been legalized in the states of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Main, and Iowa. New Jersey, California, and New Hampshire have created legal unions that, while not called marriages, are explicitly defined as offering all the rights and responsibilities of marriage under state (though not federal) law to same-sex couples.

3. Attempts have been made to remove “In God we Trust” from our monies and to remove “Under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance. Also Christian symbols, such as crosses, have been removed from recordings where President Obama was doing his speaking engagements.

With the election being this Tuesday, I’m asking you to please prayerfully consider who you are casting your vote for and as Christians, I’m asking you to please vote morally. If a candidate is against Biblical principles and for things such as abortion, homosexuality, and removing christian symbology, then please consider what it is that you are actually voting for. We need a country that is not based on the state of ‘ideas’ but rather on God. So join me in voting for the most moral candidate.

“For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12

I love you all and please remember even though we live in this world. God still gives us His peace….

“My peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27

  2. Well, I voted as morally as was possible. Tried to vote out an Iowa judge who helped to legalize gay marriage. Unfortunately, I was the minority, and he’s retaining his judicial seat. And unfortunately, our country re-elected a very evil man. Gay marriage was on the ballot in 4 states, and it was passed in all 4 states. After yesterday, I feel very sad, angry, and frustrated with our nation. I have a friend who calls herself a Christian, but yet she voted for Obama, and she believes in gay marriage (she’s Presbyterian – which should explain it somewhat). Even with that issue aside, the majority of Christians at least believe that abortion is wrong. So, I’m left to wonder why a “supposed” Christian would ever vote for someone who pays for abortions abroad, and has forced every American to pay for Obamacare, which in turn, allows for pregnancy termination. So, regardless of the fact that my convictions tell me abortion is immoral, I’m being forced to pay for it. I’m left with no other thought except she’s not actually saved. She’s a person that goes to a social gathering every Sunday that happens to take place in a church, but God is not actually present in her life. And I know she’s not uninformed….she’s in seminary!

    • I couldn’t agree with you more! It breaks my heart to know that such laws are being passed. Not only the homosexual laws but also marijuana legalization laws. I believe we have a righteous anger for what is going on in our nation. Much like Jeremiah during his time with Israel. And it just breaks my heart that so called ‘Christians’ could vote for someone who is against Biblical principles. It confuses me and all I can say is that I have come to the same conclusions that you have. Love and miss you my friend.
