The Hand of God on the Jewish People

In light of all the bombings in Israel, I thought a post about the Jewish people would be appropriate. So here goes…

One of the most visible places that you can see the hand of God is on the Jewish people. Take Scripture for example, only two chapters are given to describe the entire creation of planet earth, only one is given to record the fall of man, and only eight are given to cover the 1,000 years from creation to Abraham. However, 38 chapters are given to deal with the life stories of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; the very Jewish race progenitors. Not only that but God made covenants with them, He deeded Israel to them, He brought Jesus through them, he prophesied over them, and more! Clearly God finds the Jewish people to be of enormous importance! And if God finds them to be that important; then shouldn’t we find them of huge importance too?

The truth is there are many ways we can see the hand of God on the Jewish race. So for the next post I’m going to list ten ways in which you can visible see the hand of God on the Jews.

1. The first way you can see the hand of God on the Jewish race is through their dispersion…

“Then the LORD will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you shall serve other gods, which neither you nor your fathers have known…” Deuteronomy 28:64

The Bible predicted and prophesied in the Scripture above that the Jews would be scatter throughout the nations, which became known as the Jewish Diaspora. In 70 A.D. the Romans destroyed Jerusalem, and as a result, the Jews were dispersed, thus fulfilling the prophecy here in Deuteronomy.

2. The second way you can see the hand of God on the Jewish people is through their persecution….

“And among those nations you shall find no rest, nor shall the sole of your foot have a resting place; but there the LORD will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, and anguish of soul.” Deuteronomy 28:65

“You will become a thing of horror and an object of scorn and ridicule to all the nations where the Lord will drive you.” Deuteronomy 28:37

No other people group have been such a target for attack, as they have. We have seen this in many battles over the years such as, the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, Portuguese Inquisition, the massacres in Ukraine and the Pogroms of Russia, as well as many expulsions and finally, the Holocaust killing over 6 million Jews. The reality of it is that God said it would happen and it did. But you know, despite attempt after attempt to wipe out the Jewish race, no one has prevailed!  And why, well because, God said he would preserve them…..

3. Which leads me to our third way, the preservation of the Jews…

For as the new heavens and the new earth Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the LORD, “So shall your descendants and your name remain.Isaiah 66:22

“I am with you and will save you,’ declares the Lord.‘ Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you…” Jeremiah 30:10

Now it’s interesting to note that despite the 4,000 years of harassment, persecution,  and often all-out war. No nation has ever succeeded in wiping out the Jewish race.  If we look at it Biblically we can see many ‘people groups’ have been wiped out. For example, the Amalekites, the Jebusites, the Hittites, the Edomites, the Canaanites, the Parazities, all no longer exist. Yet the Israelites remain! And why…. well because God promised us that they would and so they have!

Ironically God used the Dispersion (as ugly as it was) to add to their Preservation. What I mean by that is in a sense the Jews were safer because they weren’t  huddled together in a besiege able country, but they were scattered!

4. The fourth way is through Israel’s nationhood…

“Who has ever seen anything as strange as this? Who ever heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment? But by the time Jerusalem’s birth pains begin, her children will be born…” says your God. Isaiah 66:8-9

God prophesied that Israel would be born in a single day and this is exactly what happened on May 14th, 1948. Although, Israel become a nation, it did not come without a price. The very next day, Satan sent six surrounding Arab nations to seek their demise! They were outnumbered 60/1, yet Israel miraculously wins the war! I believe the reason for Satan wanting the Jews out of the land of Israel is quite simple when looked at from a spiritual viewpoint, because the very existence of the Jewish people in the land of Israel, proves beyond a doubt that the God of Israel does exist!

“Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, And declare in the coastlands afar off, And say, “He who scattered Israel will gather him And keep him as a shepherd.” Jeremiah 31:10

You see, ever since Israel became a nation, and even a little before it, God has been gathering the Jews back to their home land by the thousands. Currently there are about 6 million Jews living there today. They have once again received their Biblical inheritance…the Land of Israel….which was deeded to them directly from God’s Word!  And no other people group can claim that deed!

5. The fifth way is through Jerusalem…

“And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.” Luke 21:24

The City of Jerusalem has passed from one Gentile  power to the next. This city has been besieged about 40 different times and destroyed (at least partially) on 32 different occasions. The ruler-ship of Jerusalem has changed hands some 69 times. But God said it belongs to the Jews and in 1967, the Jews regained control of their precious city, Jerusalem!

Not only that but God also said in the last days Jerusalem would be a burdensome stone.

“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. 3 And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.Zech. 12:2-3

The meaning of the word, Jerusalem is actually, “city of peace.” The irony is this so-called ”peaceful city” has known more war, more bloodshed, more tears, and terror than any city on earth. Today Jerusalem is unquestionably the focal point of all the controversy that is going on in the world. You see Jews believe Jerusalem belongs to them, it’s their most holiest site. After all, the word Jerusalem can be found over 800 times in the Torah alone! But the Arabs believe it belongs to them, for it is their third most holiest site next to Mecca and Medina. And there is NO reference to Jerusalem in the Koran? But it just wouldn’t be complete if the Papacy didn’t have their say in it too. For they say it belongs to Christendom. Jerusalem is sacred to them because of both Old and New Testament associations, after all it is the site of the death and resurrection of Christ.

Even though the worlds three major religions may disagree on many things, the one thing they agree on is that Jerusalem is a Holy Site! So in order to attempt to solve the conflict. The UN, US, and the EU, seek to divide the city, after all, it is revered by the world’s three greatest religions. They claim…”It is critical hot spot that could well endanger ‘world peace’. So, they look for a compromise by dividing the city.

6. The sixth way is through Israel land being divided…

For behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and divided [parted] my land.” Joel 3:1-2

It’s interesting to note that many attempts have been made to ‘divide the land’ in order to bring about peace. There are about 14 patricians that have taken place since they have been a nation. From the Madrid Conference, to the Oslo Accords, to the Israel-Jordan Treaty of Peace, to the Beirut Summit, and many more. They have been trying to divide the land ever since Israel became a nation.  Some of which have actually prevailed in dividing the land, ex. Sinai Peninsula. The current attempt to divide up the land, that the US and other nations are pushing is called the 2-State Solution.

According to Wikipedia: The two-state solution envisions two separate states in the Western portion of the historic region of Palestine, one Jewish and another Arab to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Basically it divides up the region into two–a Jewish one and an Arab one. Now we do not know, if this will be the arrangement made with Israel or not, we will only know that when it happens. But the truth of the matter is, many attempts have been made to divide the land, just as prophesied. And this land does belong to Israel.

7. The next is through rebuilding the Jewish Temple…

“Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ [Anti-Christ] spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place [The Jewish Temple]…” Matthew 24:15

The temple has not been built yet, however it soon will be built. And how do I know, because God said it would be and I believe Him. But that’s not all!! Did you know that today there are plans in the works to build the temple? There is an organization called, “The Temple Institute”, which was founded in 1987, whose main focus is on to construct the Jewish Temple. But there is only one problem with this. The Muslims “Dome of the Rock” now stands in the place that the Israelites want to build. Which is why we see such a conflict in the middle east today! But the truth is the temple cannot be built until some kind of arrangement can be made to build it either where the Dome of the Rock lies. Or there is a possible second location that is being considered, right next to the Dome of the Rock. In which, some people claim is the true location and that the Muslims got it wrong. However this is all still in debate. But, either way, the temple is ready to go, ready to build!

In fact the “Temple Institute,” has already currently restored over 60 different sacred temple vessels including: The stones on the High Priest’s breastplate, the crown of the High Priest, musical instruments that will be played by the Levitical choir, gold/silver vessels that will be used in the incense and sacrificial services, stone alters, the laver, the 7 branched Candelabra (AKA- The menorah) made of Pure Gold, the incense alter, the golden table of showbread, and more. Things are ready to go and its only a matter of time before the process starts and I can’t wait for the day!

8. The eighth way is through the re-established Sanhedrin…

Back in Biblical times the Sanhedrin, takes its origin from the book of Exodus, when God commanded Moses to assemble 70 elders to share in the leadership of the nation. From that time on, it continued to function for more than 400 hundred years, even after the destruction of the temple in 70A.D. Since then there have been several attempts to re-establish it, although each of these attempts have failed, because they have not had a nation to inhabit. But today they have a nation and guess what?? They have re-established the Sanhedrin.

They are a small group of young scholars who are preparing the way for this third temple to be built. They consist of a council of 70 men. This Current attempt to establish the Sanhedrin is referred to as the “developing Sanhedrin.” This is because it has not yet achieved Jewish legal status on par with its previous position.  However, they do have the authority of a Rabbinical Court. Here is what it stated on their website….

“The Sanhedrin have full authority of a Rabbinical court….and are working diligently and with much discussion to satisfy all Jewish Legal requirements   for complete restoration as soon as possible. “

A spokesman from the Sanhedrin said, “The rebirth of the Sanhedrin is a slow, ongoing process. Although it makes headlines and many like to highlight its controversy, it is in truth a humble project by rabbis from all sides of the Torah world joining together simply to fulfill a Torah commandment [rebuilding the temple, being the Torah leadership]...”

9. The ninth way is through seeing a blossoming Israel…

“And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them. And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up out of their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.” Amos 9:14-15

Israel was once a dry and desolate area, but now its green, fertile, and prosperous, just as the Scriptures foretold it would be. Over 300 million trees have been planted in this century, rainfall has increased 450 percent, former malaria infested swamps have been converted into cultivated lands, and water from the Sea of Galilee has been channeled to the deserts, causing it to bloom. God said Israel would bloom, and they are!

10. Lastly through the Jewish language…

“For then I will return to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve Him with one consent.” Zephaniah 3:9

Prior to Israel becoming a nation in 1948, the Hebrew language was a dead language, but today, the Israelites speak fluent Hebrew. This is actually the only example in history of the resurrection of a dead language. You see all these things are coming to pass right before our eyes and what a time to be alive!

In conclusion, I believe God chose the Jewish people in order that they might be a sign to the Gentiles to know that God does exists. God uses them to authenticate the warnings and the promises found in the Bible. Now that doesn’t mean that God doesn’t love us, because He loves us all. Jew, Gentile, Male, Female, Arab, Palestinian. He leaves no one out! And in fact, if you are a believer in Christ, then you have been grafted into the Jewish vine. We have not replaced the Jews, but we have been grafted in.

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:28-29

Love you all!

  1. i will so, so love it if israel regains a peaceful life! some countries have suffered so much that it hurts when they keep suffering. israel, afghanistan are two apart from too many african countries that come to mind instantly.

let there be peace! long lasting peace (if not permanent)!

  2. The more I read the OT, and the more I see prophecies being literally fulfilled in Christ, the more I believe that the promises for Israel will likewise be literally fulfilled for Israel in the future. Thanks for sharing
